Well Eli got to stay home with his daddy today, but you can bet even though they enjoyed their time the both wished Eli felt better. Kevin said he has slept all but about 3 hours today and that is not like little man at all. I got home and my usually energetic child reached out his arms, I picked him up (off the couch) and he just layed his little head on my shoulder and closed his eyes. This bug is completely wiping him out. Maybe day 15's blog will be about how much better Eli is, but from the looks of it, daddy might have to stay home tomorrow and take care of our little man again.
Have I mentioned I hate it when my little boy is sick? :(

Sickness...#13
One of the worst things you can experience is when your child is sick, especially when they are an infant/toddler and can't tell you what's wrong yet. They cry and whine and are pityful and you ask them questions..."Are you hot? Do your ears hurt?" Like they are just going to answer yes. I guess it's just hope. You hope if you say stuff out loud you can figure out what's wrong.
Hopefully Eli is on the mend. He started his antibiotic today along with alternating tylenol and ibroprofren (spelling?) to keep his fevers down. I guess at one point some or all of the meds kicked in because he sure was happy for a short spell running all over the house non-stop in just a diaper and shirt while carrying his blankie and paci. Whatever works...

Day # 12...a day late
Well I've been doing pretty good about blogging each day, but I'm playing catch up today. This will be short and sweet because all we accomplished yesterday was LOTS of waiting. Kevin, Eli & myself all had to go to urgent care at some point. It's crazy that it's called "urgent care" because the first time we went the wait was 2 hours and Eli was miserable so we came home, called later and went back. They said "There is only 1 person in the waiting room." We thought we had struck gold. Silly us...2 1/2 hours later of waiting, Eli has ear infections and an upper respiratory infection, I have an ear infection and signs of what could develop into an upper respiratory infection and unfortunately because Kevin had gone to another doctor, he was told his was "viral."
We left FINALLY at 8:45 last night, BUT the pharmacy was closed so we brought our miserable feeling baby home and put ourselves to bed.
Eli is such a trooper, even when he's sick. I pray we all feel better very quickly, along with everyone else who is sick. It sure isn't fun.

Eating my words... #11
Ok...so I ended yesterday's post with these words, "with these 2 boys, how could I not be happy?" Well...I have an answer this morning. It could make you a little less happy if one of those boys wakes up with no sign of feeling bad before, with a terrible stomach bug. Eli, poor thing, screamed all night...I mean ALL night and Kevin had to take care of him because I didn't feel well last night and took nighttime cough syrup. In case you don't know me well, I turn into one of those zombies on the show "walking dead" when I take any kind of nighttime medicine.
So I wake up, after the crazy night, and Eli is screaming non-stop. When that happens you KNOW Eli is sick. AND just in case we weren't sure as we walk around with him to soothe him, he proceeds to vomit all over me twice. Yep, twice. AND in case that doesn't reassure us, his diaper starts feeling really full. I won't go into details, but let's just say you don't know how much you can handle until you are a parent. Smells, sounds and sights are a lot tougher to handle when you become a parent, but you do it, somehow you do it.
Needless to say after several phone calls to friends/co-workers and some sub-plans typed up really quickly, mommy is home today. Sometimes it is really hard to have to stay home when you don't plan it, especially as a teacher. Don't get me wrong, I love my son and would do anything at all for him, but as a teacher we have so many other "kids" too. We know they count on us and need to trust us and it always comes to my mind that they are going to be so dissapointed, especially my chorus kids. It's so hard for them when they have a sub, and they don't all have a good mommy that would drop everything for them. *Sigh* Somethings just pull at your heart strings...BUT...
I still love my life and I am still happy and I'm hoping my baby boy feels much better tomorrow.

So happy... #10
I look at this picture and I am so in love with this man. We fit together so perfectly, not to mention he is my best friend and the best daddy I could ever ask for our children.
And if that doesn't make you smile...this will...
Eli sure can get comfy while he's sleeping. Arms behind the head, completely out. Livin' the life of a toddler. Pimpin' ain't easy.
With these two in my life, I can't find any reasons why I wouldn't be happy.
Life is good.

Happy Hump Day #9
Well I think this week for me is dragging by extremely slowly, but it always does after we return from a break. Eli is doing well still in his transition to the toddler class so on Monday he will officially be in there full time.
Growing up, I can remember my dad sometimes saying "home again, home again, jiggity jig" several times and he always said it in this funny voice which a cheesy grin on his face and I'd roll my eyes because I was too cool for that.Well Eli loves it. I have been doing it with him when we drive in the garage and get home from daycare and he completely dies from laughter. It is hysterical! Eli is just such a joy and such a happy boy and lately he loves his Ipad, especially in the car.
He couldn't pause long to smile at mommy. Guess he was too busy sending out emails. :)

Muffin and Eli... BFFs... #8
Lately, Eli has been obsessed with Muffin. He hasn't gotten into her dog food yet, but I'm sure it's because we have it blocked off. Right now the interest is her toys. He wants to see them, hold them and throw them and he expects her to jump right then and get it because HE threw it. The funniest thing is he'll throw a toy for her, watch to see if she goes to get it and if she doesn't then he proceeds to point to her toy, look right at Muffin and say "get it."
This is Eli saying "get it."
This is Eli saying well if you aren't going to play with it, I will. Don't worry all of you freaking out right now, we took the dog toy away from our child. It was only in his mouth a second.
On the nights that Muffin isn't up to playing, Eli just entertains himself.
Kids are such a joy and there is never a dull moment. :)
