Eli's First Fireworks! July 4th...

Yesterday was July 4th and although Kevin had to work, we were determined to do something for the fourth.  We really are home-bodies and don't do too much stuff (yes I know we live in Florida about 20 minutes away from the wonderful Disney World, etc... but just like anything else, it gets old).  Also, when we have family time we are pretty selfish.  We like to play in our yard and on our patio where Eli has toys and has a pool and bouncy house and can have just as much fun.  Then when he gets tired, we just go inside!

With all that being said though, we wanted to do something for the fourth this year.  Some of our friends were having a cook-out at their house and were nice enough to invite us.  They have a little girl that's only 2 weeks older than Eli and so we knew he'd have someone to play with.  So we got Eli ready in his fourth of july colored outfit.  I put on the most patriotic thing I own and then we headed over.
If you ask Eli if he's ready to go bye-bye...he's at the door before you stand a chance.

This is his "What do you mean wait a minute" face.

"Mom, I'm not going to smile.  Let's go."

"Cheese...ok?"

Excited to be going to play with other kids.

This was his reaction when Kevin said, "Eli, are you going to find a girlfriend?"
Anyways...

We got to Samantha & Danny's, we ate great burgers and hotdogs and then after eating and the kids all playing inside, we went downtown Winter Garden to watch the fireworks.  They only live like 5 minutes from downtown so we didn't have to worry about parking or anything.  We just threw all the kids in their strollers and headed that way a few minutes before the show started.  It had been pouring rain on poor Danny while he was trying to grill the food, but it stopped so luckily we were able to still enjoy some fireworks.

Once we got down there it was just in time and no waiting.  We found a little spot, sat down and the fireworks started coming.

Eli was mesmerized.  He kept pointing and saying "ohhhh".  Then I guess he thought he was Harry Potter or something because he kept opening and closing his hands saying "Ta-Da" like he was the one making the fireworks appear.  It was too funny.  Some of the kids didn't like the loud sounds and I was afraid Eli wouldn't, but he didn't mind a bit.  As soon as they were over, we walked back to their house and before we even got across the street, Eli was asleep.  All in all, it was a good night with friends.  This was one time that we were glad we went out.

A couple self-portraits while daddy was getting ready.  Eli was saying "YAY" to going bye-bye.

Still smiling. :)

A serious look, but I like it anyway.  I love my little man and this was just another memory to add to the books.  I do have to say though, we must have all had tons of fun...because Eli didn't wake up until 8:30 (which is late for him) and was asking to be put down for a nap at 10:30. Hope everyone else had a great time on the 4th of July too!
